During the shutdown process the contents of the virtual cache are written to the hard drives. This setting specifies the timeout to wait for the cache to be written to the drive.

Open your registry and find the key below.

Create a new DWORD value, or modify the existing value called 'CacheWriteDelay' using the settings below.

Exit your registry, you may need to restart or log out of Windows for the change to take effect.

Note: This can be used to solve the problem where ScanDisk runs at startup even though Windows was shut down correctly. More information in Microsoft article Q273017.

Value: Timeout in milliseconds (2000 recommended)
